The mother of the bride plays a huge part in a wedding, especially if your mother is the hands-on type and helps you during the planning process. It is very important not only to show your appreciation and gratitude on your wedding day for your mother, but also make her feel special. There are several ideas on how to make the mother of the bride feel special and appreciated on and before your wedding day.

Prior to your wedding day,

 

• Include her in the dress shopping and go shopping with her for her MOB dress. This is such a special time in the bride’s life, shopping together will be a memorable moment for you and your mother. Include her in your decisions about the bridesmaid dresses as well.
• Get manicures and pedicures together before the wedding.
• Arrange to have her hair and make-up done too. You want her to feel just as beautiful as you do!
• During the ceremony, one idea is to have her escorted in before the actual wedding ceremony begins.
• Another more non-traditional way, is to have your mother and father give you away to the groom.
• You can incorporate your mother in the ceremony by doing a unity candle, or a sand ceremony.
• Write a special note for her in a program for her to hold on to in a scrap book about how much she means to you.
• Make sure your mom gets a special dance with either her spouse, or your new husband.
• After the reception is over, arrange for a car to pick her up and take her home. She will be able to enjoy herself more, and after all, this is her daughter’s wedding day!
